Iridectomy/iridocyclectomy

Iridectomy involves excision of a section of the iris. This causes a large iris defect, which may be treated by suturing the iris or inserting an artificial lens implant or with a painted contact lens.

With iridocyclectomy, the excision is more extensive so that part of the ciliary body is also removed. This operation is performed through a scleral window.
